Dieppe - sights and sounds

Of course it rains and that is why Normandy is so green! Seasons are usually about three weeks ahead of England. Primroses and violets in springtime, and the cows standing in the apple orchards. The trees have pink and white blossom then too.
Dieppe: There are different Dieppes. The high tide means the arrival and departure of the fishing trawlers. You discover on a midnight walk that the bridge is up and the trawlers slide out to sea. Suddenly there is all that activity on a winter's night, when everyone else is in bed.
Personalities of the historical Dieppe include Oscar Wilde (Cafe La Suisse and Le Tribunal) in 1896, Jehan Ango (Church of St. Jacques - see later on this site - his statue on the Custom House), and Admiral Duquesne (his statue in the Place National).
The Marina displays the wealth of the yaghts and boats, as also the row of restaurants on the quayside. But some businesses come and go. A restaurant you enjoyed is not there on the next visit, perhaps. Other businesses flourish. The main pedestrian street (Grande Rue) was repaved in 2004 and looks great! Wander round and discover the different areas of Dieppe, and you can also follow round the shore line and the quayside.
