In the short space of an hour's programme it is impossible to show more than a few of the many sides of love. I have, therefore, taken a handful of the most obvious and most famous examples of great love.

They are David, Danto, Don Quixote, Charles the Second, Napoleon, Wordsworth, Florence Nightingale, Robert Browning, and Walt Whitman.

The music for 'Love' has been arranged from Palestrina, Bach, Handel, Boyce, Schuman and Delius.
