packages - creative

Your tasks as a creative - making the package - you interview, you record wild-track, you collect the other sound effects (SFXs), ins and outs - you script (linking commentary PLUS drop-in cue), you edit and mix.

Record enough wild-track - be generous! When interviewing, remember to record wild-track too - you will need it for editing (filling in a silence or two in speech).

You assemble your sound effects - from CDs? From the radio course shared sound files?

You sample and treat in Cool Edit Pro or Pro Tools (or whatever sound editing software)?

Ins and outs  - in the script

You script - the linking commentary in your package.

You also script the drop-in script or cue or link for the presenter ... for the radio programme which will broadcast your package. You may also write the outro script for the presenter.

The presenter will nearly always rewrite the cue script you write - but accept that.

You also specify how your package begins and ends in this cue script..............

In - 'in music five seconds' or 'hard in'

E.g., 'goes out on a line' or 'music to fade' or 'hard out' or 'fade out'

NOTE: It is difficult to begin with a fade in - that is more difficult for the presenter to time the cue. It is difficult to read a line for a 'soft in'.

 Edit and mix

You do the post-production work on Cool Edit Pro or whatever sound software.
